The Third APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM3) brings together senior officials and delegates from the 21 APEC member economies in Dalian, China, to advance regional economic cooperation through policy discussions, technical meetings, and capacity-building initiatives.
Over two weeks, APEC working groups are addressing a wide range of priorities related to the region’s economic future. These include digital trade rules, food security, customs modernization, agricultural biotechnology, public health, disaster management, and supply chain resilience.
The technical meetings allow economies to develop practical initiatives, exchange expertise, and build consensus before recommendations are presented to senior officials. This process supports cooperation and helps coordinate priorities among the participating economies.
The meeting series will conclude with the third Senior Officials’ Plenary Meeting on 27–28 August. During this meeting, officials will review progress across APEC’s different areas of work and help establish priorities for the remaining meetings of China’s 2026 host year, leading toward APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Shenzhen in November.
