Small and medium enterprises make up over 97 percent of businesses across the Asia-Pacific. They drive innovation, create jobs, and strengthen local communities. To remain competitive, these firms need supportive environments that encourage innovation and simplify access to regional markets.
Aligning quality standards and reducing regulatory costs allows smaller businesses to expand efficiently. Strong intellectual property protections and accessible financing are vital, especially for rural, underserved, and women-led enterprises. Furthermore, connecting entrepreneurs with corporate mentors and investors helps accelerate growth in advanced fields like biomedicine and robotics.
Digital adoption also plays a central role in modern business operations. Tools such as e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and clear data privacy policies enable small firms to lower costs and manage supply chain disruptions. Providing practical digital training ensures that workers can confidently use these technologies to support long-term regional growth.
